About Maria Morales
Maria’s current work endeavors to display the grace and elegance of the human form. The beauty of form, line, and contour is inherent in how a body moves and rests. Maria focuses on showing the splendor and richness of the figure with an interplay of colors interacting with each other adding drama and interest to the work.
How color, light, and form enhances the figure and depicts luxurious nuances and sensual color harmonies are what Maria strives to show in her paintings. The focus of the artwork is to showcase the human form in a way that is dignified and beautiful to a diverse audience. Composition, colors, and detail are chosen to support this goal.
Maria was born in Portugal and moved to New York where she attended school and went on to graduate from Parson’s School of Design (NY) with a BFA in Illustration.
“Creating art is a journey that fills me with excitement, peace of mind, and takes me away from the concerns and stresses of daily life”.
About Manuel Morales
As an official artist for the US Olympic team, or as an artist painting in a Budweiser commercial, Manuel Morales' distinctive style of combining fluid mixtures of color with realistic rendering that is both translucent and opaque has been seen in many venues for over twenty five years. Recently Manuel's artwork has been the catalyst of a twelve year art/science experiment which has been included in the Smithsonian/NASA Astrophysics Data System. His second paper based on these findings is soon to be published in an international physics journal in December, 2012 (to be announced).
Manuel's art career began by airbrushing van and motorcycle murals to help pay his way through college to obtain his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the prestigious Parsons School of Design. This experience eventually led to a commission by Budweiser to paint a mural on a van for one of their commercials which aired from 1984-85. During the early days of Manuel's career he created artwork for magazines, book publishers, and commissions for clients which include: HBO, PEPSI, NY Giants, Simon & Schuster, MILLER LITE, SONY, Allied-Signal, OMNI magazine, and Readers Digest to list a few.
Manuel has also done private portrait commissions, fine art paintings, and original graphics which have been exhibited at galleries nationwide. He was one of a select group of artists commissioned to create artwork for the US Olympic Committee's Olympic Portfolio consisting of posters and limited edition prints to raise funds for TEAM USA.
Manuel served in the Air Force and in the Air Force National Guard. His experience as a carpenter in the Structural Maintenance and Support Team required that he learn all of the building trades. This training enabled him to build a home for his wife and children in southern New Jersey.
